kids climbing the walls?
FamilyHaus is made especially for kids & their families to enjoy climbing together.
FamilyHaus offers a dedicated space for kids to explore the joy of bouldering, climbs are designed specifically for little people, & follow our colour grading system.
you’re never too young to start climbing, though kids five years & over tend to get the most out of bouldering at FamilyHaus — all children require adult supervision in haus.
how kids can get the most out of bouldering.
bouldering is a unique combination of physical & mental challenges — every climb is a puzzle & the key is to experiment with how your body moves to figure it out.
collaboration & encouragement help kids with their problem solving & resilience — we recommend climbing together in small groups to get the most fun out of solving the movement puzzles.
at BlocHaus, you have the freedom to set your own challenges, you don’t have to follow the colour grading, you can use any hand or foot hold that feels good — you don’t have to ‘make it to the top’ either, you decide what your goals are — time to get creative!
using the space.
we welcome all ages at BlocHaus — our main area is open to climbers 12 years & over.
the FamilyHaus space is for all ages, with some areas more suitable for very young children e.g. the toddler wall — adult climbers must be mindful of children’s varying degrees of safety awareness & behaviour when using this space.
kids under 12 years can enjoy the slackline & hang out areas, but there’s no access to climbing & training areas in the main gym for their own safety & the safety of others.

we understand your family or group may have multiple children across age groups, so we apply a common-sense interpretation of the supervision ratios — however, a one to one ratio for climbers five & under applies at all times.

supervision haus rules.
for the safety of our customers big & small, all children require adult supervision at BlocHaus.
adult to child supervision ratios:
An adult must provide constant supervision & be within arm’s reach of the child. We do not expect children at this age to have the necessary awareness & ability to follow the safety rules on their own.
An adult must provide constant supervision & be on the mats with the children. We find children from 6-9 are learning to observe the safety rules & are developing awareness of their surroundings & their own safety.
Adults must keep a clear line of sight with all children. Adults may climb together with the children by taking turns. Children at this age are expected to follow the safety rules & be mindful of the people around them & fall zones.
Youths may be supervised at a distance & are expected to follow the safety rules & know the bouldering gym etiquette. They are encouraged to lead by example for younger children.
We understand your family or group may have multiple children across age groups and we apply a common-sense interpretation of the supervision ratios. However, a one to one ratio for kids five & under applies at all times.
